The Dorworth ReportDick Dorworth

Today was Sun Valley at its best---clear, warm, beautiful and with superb snow conditions. I didn't make it to Bald Mountain today and my usually reliable informants were having so much fun skiing Baldy they were unable to report on ski conditions. Nevertheless, I'll make an educated guess and say that all the main runs were freshly groomed and Baldy skiing had to be excellent.

I went a bit north into the backcountry this morning. The avalanche danger is rated MODERATE everywhere. I had a wonderful hike in perfect weather and then found superb powder skiing on the way down. It was a superior backcountry day. The Nordic skiing is excellent throughout the valley. The Boulder Mountain Tour Nordic race was held today in memory of Rob Kiesel who founded the race and was a great friend to skiing and skiers.

This from Herman Melville: "I am, as I am; whether hideous, or handsome, depends on who is made judge."
