The Dorworth ReportDick Dorworth

It was lightly overcast and warm in Sun Valley today, classic springtime weather. Bald Mountain's last day of the season will be Sunday, April 18 and has excellent and classic springtime skiing conditions. This morning the Warm Springs side of Baldy was firm and the River Run side softened early. The trick is to get the corn before it turns to slush, and when you do Baldy is superb. The best I found today was Canyon.

This is the last Dorworth ski report of this season. I am abandoning the pleasures of sliding down steep snow slopes for the rigors of climbing up steeper stone faces in warmer weather. Thanks for reading the report. With luck, we'll all be back next year.

There is good Nordic skiing on recently groomed trails from SNRA north to Galena Lodge and on the trails around the lodge. Temperatures never dropped below freezing last night even at higher elevations. Backcountry skiers can expect a variety of snow conditions, some of them rotten.

This from Simone Weil: "One cannot imagine St. Francis of Assisi talking about rights."
