“The Nutcracker”
The Spiegel School for Performing Arts will be presenting this Christmas favorite at the nexStage Theatre on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. A matinee will be held on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. David Makhateli, a principal dancer of the Houston Ballet, will make a guest appearance as the prince. Festival of Trees
The Blaine County Senior Center invites you to view over 40 Christmas trees, spectacularly decorated by local artists, on Dec. 1 from 2-7 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Hailey. Also on the same day at the Armory, come to the Christmas Teddy Bear Tea from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Winter Wonderland from noon to 5 p.m. Call 788-2441.

Community Christmas
Tree Lighting
Santa arrives by fire truck at the Heritage and Ski Museum and pulls the switch to light the official Ketchum Christmas Tree. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 6. The museum in Ketchum is at the corner of Washington Avenue and First Street. Call 726-8118.
“A Christmas Carol”
An ensemble of six actors unfolds this classic story adapted by Douglas Jones “in the wink of an eye.” Performances will be at the Liberty Theatre at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13-15, 20-22, and 27-29. “To Speak the Unspeakable”

Sun Valley Center documentary film festival. Greg Withrow, a rising star in the white supremacy movement, suddenly rejected the ideologies of hatred and race war and became an outspoken critic. Cross Country Ski Festival
This is the 8th year for the festival at Galena Lodge and sponsored by Wells Fargo. The festival begins at 10 a.m. on Feb. 3 and includes equipment demonstrations and nordic ski clinics by elite athletes. Set in turn-of-the-century Dublin, “The Dead” revolves around an annual Christmas party in the home of Gabriel Conroy’s music-loving aunts. On this night, a guest’s song awakens a memory for Gabriel’s wife and reveals her long-buried passion for another man.
